Self portrait – A similar mural was introduced in the Sylvan Room, Pick-Roosevelt Hotel, Pittsburg, PA during its 1950 redecoration, one of seven murals for this dinning room, this painting is possibly a record of similar previous work. Grell painted himself into this picture representing going on his last hike leaving life behind him.
