Imagineered, Louis Grell Foundation collection

Representing much of Grell’s theatre work, this Shakespearian ‘drama stage’ scene showcases Grell’s wonderful color and imagineering style.  This drawing is strikingly similar to portions of the right side lobby mural inside the former Ft. Wayne (IN) Paramount theatre (1930).  One character wears a Capitano mask; another sneaking from behind the drape jealously holds a dagger.

c1928, oil, gouache, mixed media, signed l/r “L. GRELL.” 25.5″ x 13.5″
